What is microneedling in Tempe?
Juvenate Healing is proud to offer microneedling in Tempe! Microneedling naturally rejuvenates wrinkles without any painful surgery or injections.
Licensed practitioners use a “pen” that rapidly inserts very fine short needles into the skin. The tiny needles create small wounds in the skin. This stimulates skin cells to increase collagen production and produce new skin cells.
In addition, these small wounds create tiny channels that easily deliver serums deep into your skin. Some say that microneedling encourages topical absorption of any serums applied during the treatment by 2000%!
What issues can microneedling treat?
- Scars, including acne scarring
- Age spots or discoloration
- Stretch marks
- Skin tone
- Fine lines
- Loose skin
- Large pores
Does microneedling hurt?
Most patients don’t report pain during the treatment.
If you have sensitive skin or concerns about pain, please alert your practitioner. You always have the option of numbing cream, which we apply before the treatment begins. In addition, we can adjust the depth of the treatment to tailor for your specific skin needs.
After the treatment, your skin will likely be red for 12-24 hours and may feel dry. We provide you with aftercare advice and also products you may want to use while your skin has the enhanced absorption.
What benefits does microneedling have?
- Stimulate collagen production
- Enhance skin texture, including fine lines
- Reduce sun spots, scars and pigmentation
- Increase absorption of serums
Who should not get microneedling?
If you have any of the following conditions, you should not get microneedling. However, you are likely a better candidate for nanoneedling.
– Blood dyscrasias, patients on anticoagulant therapy (blood thinners)
– On chemo/radiotherapy
– Active cold sores or shingles
– Local infection, like warts
– Moderate to severe chronic skin disease such as eczema and psoriasis
– Extreme keloidal tendency
– Active acne
If you have a tendency for cold sores, please discuss with our practitioner in advance. We can discuss your options with you.
If you use harsh topical treatments like retinol, stop using them at least 48 hours prior to the treatment.
And if you use fillers, please advise the practitioner. You should not have microneedling treatments either within a week before or 1.5 weeks after your filler appointment.
Can microneedling also work for hair loss?
A research study compared results for individuals experience mild to moderate hair loss. One group received microneedling and a cream with the active ingredients in Rogaine while the other group received the cream only. 82% of those in the microneedling group reported more than 50% improvement compared to <5% of those in the cream only group.
What about nanoneedling?
In nanoneedling, we use a different type of needle head and also only address the epidermis, or the upper 0.15 mm of your skin. Microscopic hair-like cones separate the cells in the epidermis to push active products into the skin. Nanoneedling benefits include:
– Pigmentation reduction
– Increased cell turnover
– Skin rejuvenation
Plus, you’ll get an immediate glow with no downtime! You can get nanoneedling treatments weekly to exfoliate the skin.
|Deep wrinkles||Fine lines & wrinkles|
|Stretch marks||Sagging skin|
|Deep acne scars|
How often should you get treatment?
Since these are more natural treatments that stimulates your own skin cells, we advise a more continuous program of treatments. This allows your body to heal itself and grow new tissue. You should wait 4 weeks between microneedling treatments, though you can have nanoneedling treatments weekly.
How can cosmetic acupuncture supplement these treatments?
Cosmetic acupuncture is a holistic treatment that aims to improve the appearance of your facial skin. This doesn’t mean the treatment is just focused on the face. In fact, cosmetic acupuncture treatments may involve a few needles in other areas of the body that could be affecting your face.
We sometimes see more dramatic results with cosmetic acupuncture in patients who are looking to lift and tighten, rather than primarily address skin smoothing. Ask us and we will be happy to discuss your situation and options.
What’s the science behind microneedling in Tempe?
Microneedling creates micro channels in the skin. When those channels are created, the skin’s repair response is to start producing collagen and elastin to heal the tiny injury that was just created. This treatment is called factional, because only a fraction of the surface of the skin is affected, leaving skin unharmed around each micro-wound. That is what allows for rapid healing and a short recovery time. That in turn make our skin tighter and smoother.
Research shows microneedling effectively treats skin and hair issues with the advantages of being well tolerated and suitable for skin of color.
At Juvenate Healing, we use a pen with a very high rotating speed. This means that the needles rapidly move in the skin, maximizing the impact of the treatment and reducing the likelihood of excessive drag across the skin.
